Do some screwing around while we wait for Elden Ring and show your opponents some manners. God, at this game's age, you'd think the people taking it so seriously would have left by now. Short of it is, don't put any stock into these, and if you do play Undead Match, try to do it for fun. A lucky enough win streak gets in you for life. Reason they are bullshit #3: Once you get gold, you can just stop playing arena and stay gold forever. I'm not saying you should, but you absolutely can just Steam block every sweaty Lapp-clad crossbow/LKSS/Black Knight Shield user you see and grind your way up to gold without having to lose to them again and again. Reason they are bullshit #2: On Steam at least, you can just block players you can't beat and never have to fight them again. I'm sure I've been the beneficiary of such latency more than once myself, too. Fighting against them is a guessing game that almost always ends with you taking lethal damage out of literally nowhere. Reason they are bullshit #1: With cross region matchmaking off, from East Coast USA, I still routinely match against players in China or Korea - nothing against them, but with that kind of connection, what you see on the screen is simply not a reflection of the current reality. All they tell you is someone played arena enough times to get one. Undead Match can be fun, but these badges are meaningless. Of course, any losses in the time in which you are attempting to rank up will increase the total number of matches needed to rank up. If you are demoted, you can still regain your previous rank by winning the required number of matches to ascertain the next rank. There are four honor ranks: Iron, Bronze, Silver and Gold. Consecutive losses will lead to a rank demotion. The exact arena rank system is currently uncertain. The Badges will be showed beside the name of the phantom when summoned into another world (Even for co-op or invasions) and can be checked in the right corner of the Undead Match menu in the Firelink Shrine Bonfire after acquiring and burning the Champion's Bones. There are 2 different badges, Duel Honor for the 1v1 duels and Brawl/Co-op Match Honor for the Brawls and Co-op matches. The Badges will change depending on the honor or rank achieved in the arena.
Badges in Dark Souls 3 are icons earned from competing in the Hollow Arena.
